Instructions for Contributors

fort da welcomes manuscripts pertaining to psychoanalytic theory, practice, research, and applied psychoanalysis in the form of articles, reviews, interviews, commentaries, essays, and poetry. fort da invites all points of view within the psychoanalytic community and endeavors to preserve high intellectual standards within the context of a lively, creative interchange. Manuscripts are accepted for review with the understanding that they are not simultaneously being submitted elsewhere.

Publication of any submissions will be at the discretion of the fort da editorial board. The editorial board also reserves the right to publish commentaries on published manuscripts in the same or subsequent issues of fort da. Manuscripts will be reviewed on the basis of style and content. Authors are responsible for organization, clarity, and conciseness; for all statements made in their work; for insuring confidentiality in case material; and for obtaining permission from copyright owners. If a manuscript is accepted for publication, fort da retains all copyright privileges.

To submit a review, please do the following:
  1. For the purposes of fort da's blind review, please put your name, address, and telephone number on a separate page with a 50-word professional biography.
  2. Keep articles to about 4,000 words in length and reviews to about 2000 words, typed double-space, 12-point, Times Roman font.
  3. Put your manuscript in final form, including references, by adhering to APA editorial criteria found in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 4th Edition.

Authors of accepted manuscripts will be asked to email their manuscripts to our copy editor, Sharon Bass. Call her at 510.466.5033 to obtain her email address. She will review all changes with the authors before going to press.

Deadlines: November 1 for spring issue, June 1 for fall issue
